Ok, so we made her pose that way and actually didn’t make her carry all of our gear.   Katie and I are looking forward to having Miss Jessica around…and to her wedding!  Be looking for great things from this cool girl!

Well…here we are…another year and a BRAND NEW COMPANY to unveil!

Stella Shot Me represents a new beginning of sorts.  Last year was a year of big changes for Stella Photography….we had a lot of growth, underwent personnel changes, and really found out what we were made of.  With that being said, I thought it was only appropriate that I do something new, something fresh, something fun. Thus Stella Shot Me came about.

In 2010, I plan to focus on Wedding Photography and Boudoir Portraiture.  I realized last year that I was taking on too many portrait clients and that I had to hone in on what I really loved to shoot.  I will still be taking a select number of portraiture clients in 2010, and Katie will also be taking on portraiture clients!  Don’t worry, there’s enough Stella Shot Me to go around!

In the coming weeks I will be updating our wedding and engagement galleries as well as unveiling a new boudoir site! I’m enthusiastic about the future of my business and can’t wait to show you all what’s in store!

It is with much excitement [and a little dread] that I’ve started a new, non-photography-related blog. Don’t worry, it’s not a new business venture, I’m still striving to become the best wedding photographer ever

The general idea of it is this : I need to be healthier.  I do not particularly enjoy cooking or exercising, but that’s just the way the cookie (mmm!) crumbles.  I’m hoping to connect with other readers out there that want to make a commitment to be healthier in some way.  For me, it is taking a sabbatical from eating out.  [It will also be my place to gritch, cry and moan about not eating fast food anymore.] Good times.

Update #1 : Addition to Stella Photography

Meet Katie Kerr, a newly-hired associate photographer for Stella Photography! Not only is this chick talented, she’s hilarious and has a great spirit. She brings a great, positive energy to the day-to-day and I see bright things in her future. She will be shooting with me at select weddings in 2010 as well as continuing to build her own clientele. She also will manage our post-processing and album design. Which means I get to focus more on the things I love…being creative and fresh with my vision for Stella Photography. You can check out a recent blog post that she did here. She took a couple to the Oklahoma State Fair and totally rocked the session…I love her work!

Update #2 : Pink Streak

I got a pink streak in my hair a couple of months ago. I’ve always wanted a pink streak in my bangs and yet never felt like I could actually pull it off. I went through a week where I thought about my Granny who passed earlier this year and what she would think about a pink streak in my hair. I came to the conclusion that she would probably giggle and tell me to go for it…you only live once. So I did it. I love it. I hope she does too.

Update #3 : Signatures on blog images

You’ll notice from the first two images on this blog that there are two signatures, one is mine and one is Katie’s. On this blog I wanted to make sure that I showed off each of our work separately…to show who each of us are as artists! Cool, huh?

Update #4 : My own personal Christmas Card preview

Katie did a session for Joe and I last weekend. I had a certain vision in mind for our Christmas cards this year…and she totally nailed it. She even provided an apron from Urban Outfitters which I think added the perfect touch. Here’s a preview…but it gets funnier from here. I will post the after picture closer to Christmas…it was good times, as you can imagine

Update #5 : Products I’m loving!

So…I’m loving this Modern Friction by Origins.

I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now…rumor has it that the one and only Brad Pitt uses it! It makes my skin so smooth…I swear Origins is not paying me a dime for this plug!

I’m also loving this necklace I recently purchased on Etsy!
I got it from a cute, cute company called {sweeter than me}. I loved her product, the way she packaged it, her business cards and the personalized note included with my necklace. She inspired me with something pretty and also with a good solid business approach. Kudos to {sweeter than me}!

Update # 6 : Public Speaking

I got the most flattering invitation ever last week…I was asked to speak to a class at ATI in Oklahoma City. Nervously, I accepted. It’s been awhile since I’ve spoken in front of any group…so needless to say I was a little…rusty. I spoke to the group about the difference between working for yourself and working for someone else. There are pros and cons to each, and I hope I did it some justice. At the end of the discussion…they asked for my business card. Dun, dun DUN!! I forgot business cards. How could I possibly? Actually, I’m always forgetting business cards…but I was really embarrassed this time! The next day I totally redeemed myself by delivering Stella business cards and an order of Halloween cookies from Johnnie’s Sweet Creations. I think they forgave me
